Why I set up my own sales agency

Charlie Day, 35, lives in Essex, she is a best selling author and podcast host, she set up Sales Made: The Agency in 2024.

I help ambitious entrepreneurs grow their businesses by making more sales.

I work with people in a variety of different ways: such as my CPD-accreditated course to help them become a sales strategist and my new sales agency, Sales Made: The Agency,

When and why did you set up your sales agency?

We launched the sales agency officially a few weeks ago and have already had an amazing response, we’re close to being fully booked already! Having spent so long in the industry teaching others to make more sales in their business, I was constantly asked about taking on the sales for others as not everyone has the time to make sales a priority, yet it’s so vital for business growth.

We decided that we were ready to build an authentic sales agency that is focused on building relationships and doing sales the right way, and I had a great team behind me to do this.

The industry is heavily male-centric and we wanted to offer something different to the tactics of many of those agencies. But whilst we’re founded by women, Sales Made: The Agency is a diverse and inclusive agency, and we will be working from people from all different backgrounds, genders, and those at different stages in their business.

What challenges have you had to overcome?

Like everyone across the world, Covid presented many challenges. The business I was running at the time had to massively pivot to online classes, the uncertainty of it all was very worrying for anyone who was self-employed at the time. Faced with the challenges of COVID and the world shutting down I myself pivoted massively and launched my online membership. I used the fact that everyone was at home 24/7 to create an amazing community and also support and help people with their businesses.

Being a female in a male-dominated industry can be a challenge too, I want to move away from the traditional way of marketing and sell with integrity and honesty. This is the ethos at the heart of Sales Made: The Agency.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Disney is a massive source of inspiration for me. Walt Disney’s quote ‘if  you can dream it, you can do it’ resonates with me as I believe in goals, manifestation, and dreaming so big.

I love the Disney quote ‘people spend money when and where they feel good’, I want people to feel a certain way when they buy from me, I want them to know that I’ll go the extra mile for them and I want them to feel great about making the sale. I think everyone should put this at the heart of their business.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in sales?

Go for it! This is the advice I’d give anyone in business. I see businesses who have curated the best website, their socials are scheduled for the next month and yes they have no customers as they haven’t even considered the sales in their business.

For me, sales always comes first. This is something I have ensured with every business I have run – without sales you have no business!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

As I have already said, I dream big. I want Sales Made: the Agency to be a market leader, recognised nationally as the go-to sales agency.

And the biggest female-founded sales agency in the UK.

I want clients to be so happy with my service that they return to me time and time again. Financially I would like the agency to be turning over £10 million and we have a diverse sales team to skyrocket people’s sales.
