A new subscription box in the UK aims to give women dedicated time to themselves to focus on self-care, with a self-development book, journaling prompts and affirmation cards.
Celebrating one year since the launch, founder Donna explained that after her own mental health battles she found that reading helped her. She wanted other women to be able to enjoy its power, along with a regular self-care routine.
Self-care advocate Donna says: “We live in such a busy world. We’re all about the hustle and bustle, constantly rushing around and scrolling relentlessly. Life is passing us by without us even coming up with air.
“With recent statistics finding that women only have an average of 21 minutes a day to themselves, it’s never been more important to make that count. And for us to really enjoy that time, no matter how small it may seem.”
Practice self-love
“When we slow down, life slows down,” Donna says. “We live in the moment, take better care of ourselves, start to practice self-love. We connect with others and ourselves on a much deeper level.
“WILDWOMAN is for every woman who craves connection. I’m so pleased that women from all over the world have been reconnecting with themselves, through the self-care packages I curate from my little home office in the Sussex countryside!”
Building a community
Donna also hosts monthly book clubs in Brighton and Lewes to bring together like-minded women who want to discuss all they’ve learnt from the featured book of the month (included in the previous month’s WILDWOMAN box), as well as share their stories and feel part of a supportive group.
“It’s so important to me to build a community of WILDWOMEN,” Donna adds.
“With over 23 per cent of adults in the UK experiencing loneliness – especially within younger generations – and this leading to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, I want to get women together to talk and realise that they’re not on their own.
“As our chosen books are all based on self-development, mental health and connection, to ourselves and others, are natural topics of conversation at book clubs.
“It’s brilliant being able to give women a space to meet, have a drink and reflect on what’s going on with themselves, that they may otherwise have missed, if they’d stayed at home to tackle that ever-growing to-do list.”
